In Progress

I told her she could have hands but only if she behaved. (Coming along slowly.)
Did the sketch for this about a year ago. Nice to see her in colour.

Well.. I was making some magnets out of left over marbles, and one decided to suck itself onto a ring base I had lying near by. DING DING! Idea time.

Available in my Etsy shop.
I’m probably going to do a few more sets, some art, some photography. Maybe some hand painted ones as well. Who knows.

A few days ago I made a big run of pendants. It was nice to get so many done in such a (relatively) short amount of time. It’ll definitely save me time later.
I also started a new painting yesterday, but it’s still top secret. Otherwise known as I haven’t uploaded any progress photos yet.
And now if you’ll excuse me, my husband is taking me to IHOP for our anniversary. Yes, I really am that easy to please.

This is the latest in my series of small portraits. It’s approximately 8.5″ x 11″ – mixed media on hardboard.
If you’re interested in modeling for this series make sure you get in touch with me! You don’t have to be a professional model and I welcome all shapes and sizes.
Kristen paints some pretty great stuff herself. You should swing by her website and take a look.
She also posted a video up on YouTube when she received her portrait in the mail. Check it out below:

Always a torturous but satisfying writing affair. The nice thing about them is that during the process of examining my work for the purpose of writing a statement, my focus is re-sharpened and my creativity stoked. I gain new perspectives but also remember the ones that were getting a bit lost or diluted.
”Writing is easy. All you do is sit staring at a blank sheet of paper until the drops of blood form on your forehead.”
- Gene Fowler
In other news, the husband-creature is currently installing french doors in the new studio area. It’s a better space than the old studio, but the lack of doors is frustrating. He promises the cats will no longer be breaking things by the end of today.

Got around to photographing this painting today. It’s part of the Morphology series. It’s a 12″ x 12″ canvas. Mixed media (collage, oils.) I have a few more from the series in progress. A suspension worm-girl among them. She’ll probably be finished before the rest.
I stretched a 38″ x 30″ canvas today so I hope to get started on that soon as well. Most likely it will be part of the series.
I can feel ideas churning in my gut, so by tomorrow I should have a finished preliminary drawing and be able to start on the base collage.
Basically I just hope to get some sleep tonight. I like the creative energy and everything, but it tends to keep me awake if I don’t submit to its will immediately. You know in Audition when the woman pokes the needles into the guy’s eyes? It’s something like that.
